Isabella ROBINSON (b 1841)

Isabella Robinson was born on 17 Dec 1841 in Centre Moriches, Suffolk County, New York. She was the first child and first daughter of Hamilton Gideon Robinson and Comfort Ann Ross. Isabella was with her parents and two younger sisters in Brookhaven Township, Suffolk County, New York at the time of the 1850 US Census in August of that year. Isabel's age was given as 8 years. Her sisters Jemima and Mary were age 4 and age 2 respectively. Her father was farming. Her grandfather Gideon Robinson, with whom they lived, was a seaman.

Isabella married George Howell probably about the time she turned 18 in 1859. The couple were found by the 1860 US Census in Center Moriches in Suffolk County, New York in August of 1860. George at age 21 was working on the water as a bayman. They already had their first child, Mary F Howell, age 6 months.

Isabella and George were still in Center Moriches in July 1870, but George was then farming. Daughter Mary was age 10 and there were two new daughters in the household, Lillian, age 7, and Carrie, age 4. All three daughters were reported to have been in school. These three girls would be the full complement of children born to this couple. George died on 18 Oct 1870 at the age of 35.

George's sister, Acsa Howell, was married to Allen Monroe Warner of Baiting Hollow, New York, a hamlet on the north shore of Long Island almost due north of the Moriches. Acsa had died in 1876, just shy of her 35th birthday, leaving Allen with five children, all boys under the age of 11, Alfred, Augustus, George, Hubert and LeRoy. By 1871, Isabella, Acsa's sister-in-law, was a widow with three daughters. By 1880 Isabella was married to her widowed brother-in-law Allen Warner. The household included all five of Allen and Acsa's children as well as Lillian and Carrie Howell, two of George and Isabella's daughters. Isabella's eldest daughter, Mary, who would have been age 20 in 1880, was not in the household. She was married to Waldo D Warner and had a daughter aged 1 year. Waldo and Mary Warner were living in Center Moriches.

Isabella did not live many more years. She died on 18 Jun 1886 and was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches, her home and the town where she had lived with her first husband George. Isabella was only 44 years old at the time of her death. Allen lived on until 1927.
